A close look at actress Ineya’s recent Mollywood films would convince you that they address contemporary issues in one way or the other — while Omega.exe addressed the issues faced by women in the IT field, Radio threw the spotlight on young girls who are forced into the flesh trade. While her latest Malayalam film has raised many eyebrows, thanks to a few intimate scenes with senior actor-director
Lal, Ineya claims she is unperturbed by any allegation against her, especially with regard to her role in the film directed by
Suresh Unnithan.
“My career is shaping up really well, be it in Tamil or Malayalam films. So I wouldn’t go out of my way to grab roles that would give me instant recognition,” the actress begins, defending playing her part in her latest Malayalam film.
“In any case, doing intimate scenes has never been my formula for success. In the film, I play a pulluva singer called Chakkara, who is the second wife of the character played by Lal. There’s not one scene that I’ve done in the film which can be labelled vulgar. It’s Chakkara’s efforts at winning her husband’s heart that has been picturised in the song, Kannanthalir. Allegations that the song has been incorporated to lure the audience to the theatres, is absolutely baseless. The film, as such, has a strong script, an interesting plot and good performances from all the artistes in it.”
Though, Ineya admits she did have inhibitions on romancing a senior actor as Lal. “However, right from the first day of shoot, I was at ease, all thanks to the crew that had everything in place. Before every shot, the director would explain to us every shot in great detail,” she says, adding, “Also, I couldn’t have performed well had Lal Sir not been cooperative.”
